Closet Organization 101

Cleaning and organizing your home can at times be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be! Focusing on a system that can create ease and help eliminate chaos is a great place to start when beginning any organization project. This is especially true for organizing your closet.

The closet is one of the more trickier yet very necessary spaces in your home to keep organized. It is a place where you get ready for the day to day, or a special event. When this space is not functional, it can cause added stress to your daily routine.

Here are our top 3 tips for getting your closet refreshed and organized!

1.) Although it is hard to get rid of items when they hold sentiment and comfort, purging is necessary! Deciding what to hold on to and what to cherish can be tough. Keep items that may hold special sentiment, or can be passed down or preserved. Items that are damaged, or have gone unworn in the past 6 months to a year, it’s probably time to toss them!

2.) Articles of clothing that are worn more often should be easily accessible. Hang at eye level, or fold on a shelf or in a drawer within reach. Seasonal or special occasion items that are worn less often, can be stored away. When choosing storage for these items, consider clear containers to help you visually keep inventory of what you have, and help cut down on purchasing clothing you do not need.

3.)Most importantly, find a system that works for you! There can be many different ways of organizing your closet, from color coordinating to organizing by style, but if it a system that doesn’t fit your day to day, it could cause more chaos than calm. tune in to how you dress yourself, and take this into consideration when giving your closet an overhaul.
